SUMMARY:FAIR Coffee lecture - Anna Harris
DESCRIPTION:UM is on a mission to become a leading example in the Open Scie
nce movement\, which aims to make research papers\, data\, methods\, etc.
open to anyone so we can all benefit. The FAIR principles go hand-in-hand
with Open Science and they form a great guide to make sure that the resear
ch you make Open\, can actually be used. With the FAIR Coffee lecture seri
es\, the Open Science Community of UM\, in collaboration with the Communit
y for Data-Driven Initiatives (CDDI)\, will help you find out more about t
hese topics and discover how your colleagues have applied Open Science and
FAIR principles to their research. These lectures are a perfect chance to
dip your toes in the FAIR water and find inspiration in the work of other
s! Coffee/tea and cookies will be waiting for you!\n\nFor this session of
 the FAIR Coffee lecture\, on March 1 2023 at 11 am\, we’ve invited Dr. A
nna Harris. She is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Social S
ciences of Maastricht University. Her research on medical practice mostly
uses ethnographic methods\, meaning that she conducts participant observat
ion in the communities she learns from\, whether medical schools or hospit
als. She currently co-leads the UM Ethnography Group (which is always open
for new members) and is finishing an ERC project which is a team ethnogra
phy of how doctors learn sensory skills (see www.makingclinicalsense.com).
She will give a presentation entitled "Sensory Data Stories: the role of
sensory methods in addressing de-contextualisation in qualitative data reu
se". More information can be found in the abstract.\n\n\n\nThe program is
 as follows:\n\n 11.00 A quick introduction on FAIR/Open Science and the F
AIR Coffee lecture series\n 11.10 Main lecture by Anna Harris (Including
 discussion/questions)\n 11.55 Closing statement\n\nThis session will be a
hybrid lecture\, which you can either attend in person (location: Paul He
nri Spaaklaan 1\, room C2.017) or via Zoom (link will be shared in the con
firmation email). Please indicate how you will attend by registering on th
e right side of the page.\n\nSee you there!\n\n===========================
